Hi,
What are some typical plans, pawn structures and middlegame positions in the Najdorf variation of the Sicilian. I am interested in looking at the positions where Black plays ...e5, as I sometimes reach this positions as White and Black in my own games. I eagerly await your replies! Q Smith |

You only need to know one plan as White: Swap off a few pieces, place all of your pieces on squares defending d5, then gain space with a few flank pawn moves, and finally place the piece on d5 with a clear advantage.
Objectively it's not best, but anyone below 2500 won't have a clue how to meet this strategy. Just ask Yermo and his pal Zak. |

I think you are referring to what Yermo said in 'Road to Chess Improvement' about his old strategy on the White side of the Najdorf. But I haven't read the book for several months so perhaps it's something else.
