1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.c3 Nf6 4.h3 and now here's the first trap: If Black takes on e4 with the knight, you play 5.Qa4 and win the e4-knight for free!
After the natural move 4...Nc6, you can play 5.d4, setting the second trap: if 5...Ne4, White wins a piece for two pawns with 6.d5 - the Black knight on c6 cannot move due to 7.Qa4, again snaring that e4-knight! I once played a 1400 player when I was just starting to play tournaments donkeys' years ago, and he fell for it! I was very pleased with myself. ![]() |
