I once saw a situation where a really old guy and some 20ish year old person were playing. ROG (short for really old guy) was up a piece for nothing, starting to dance, when after the 20yo finished his shock and then the comtemplation, he confidently bashed out a 10-move sequence.

Objectively it lost by force, but then the ROG got flustered and made...an illegal move! Then after the 20yo pointed out that ROG's move was illegal , also pointing out the touch-move rule.

The ROG wasn't going to be forced to make a move that turned his winning position into a lost position, so he denied that the move was illegal and declared that the 20yo was a cheat and should be punished!

Then after the 20yo called the arbiter, the arbiter declared that the game was going to be adjourned, with the ROG making a sealed move, but with the ROG having to move the piece he originally touched.

So he sealed the illegal move he previously made again! After the 20yo pointed it out, the ROG snapped.

Suddenly, he stood up, and the opponent with his fists! The blood streamed down the 20yo's face. So the ROG jumped on the table and continually kicked the 20yo! Then the security guards came in! They restrained the ROG and then whacked him non-stop with their coshes! After the ROG fell to the ground, they kicked him out of the playing hall, threw him in the police car and locked him up!

Hehe, that is quite amusing. I have seen players nod their heads a lot during the game, albeit not consecutively!

It's quite funny how some chess players have their quirky idiosyncracies; I guess it's part of what makes chess players so unique!

Another thing I once saw was where two players were in a severe mutual time-scramble. To make things worse, the clock was analog, not digital. Then, in a very complicated position which appeared to be dynamically balanced, the clock suddenly stopped working for both sides! The arbiter tried to remedy the situation, but could not fix up the clock. The arbiter had recommended that he find a digital clock and try to set the times as accurately as he could, but both players felt that this would give one of them an unfair advantage. As both players were similarly rated, they decided to be courteous and agree a draw.

So this story had a happy ending after all.

Probably, although I remember that at the time the arbiter didn't have any batteries with him or stored anywhere. Both players were quite old (although they could move quite fast for their age), and they both stated afterwards, when asked for why they agreed a draw, that they mainly just played for fun and didn't want one of them to score a 'lucky' victory as a result of the clock failing on them.

Nowadays this wouldn't occur as digital clocks are almost always used, and the players can almost always remember the clock times to the nearest minute.

I'm currently playing in two tournements in my country, they are local tournements but i'm enjoying it ,

That day i played with this guy and he smells bad, i couldn't concentrate..

I was thinking, is it possible that he's purposly putting bad smells so his opponent can't concentrate & losss, possible

funny!

That's not the first time I've heard of chess players who smell bad...

Best solution is to take regular walks around the playing hall.
