Oh, where was I...ah yes, members experiences.
These headphones are blaring...can't concentrate, but I'll post some experience thingamajig I was once at the chess tourney and there was some situation and stuff. So I was like playing, and then I like...saw this headphone thingy - communication device? Perhaps, but I asked arbiter and saw that he was leaving all the time. Always in the loo. So arbiter checks out thingy and then omg...like...the guy freaked out! caught with fritzy, he was! And he was forfeited and then he was kicked out of the hall. He tried to stay in but then this Russian security guard like went up and forced out! Haha, the player was banned for a year...lol...and it was like only a weekender with $200 first prize! hehe u like story? sorri for bad english and gramma as I'm really really REALLY distracted now. |

Hello,
Does anyone here have any interesting learning experiences from tournaments they would like to share? I'll start by presenting a brief synopsis of something I once saw whilst arbitering a junior tournament (I was an Assistant Arbiter because there was a shortage at the time). I saw this game where two kids, aged about 13, were playing a game, and in a drawish endgame, Black checked the White king with his rook. White did not notice the check and captured a Black Knight with his Queen. Black pointed out that the move was illegal, and White instead picked up his king and moved it to a safe square. The game eventually ended in a win for Black, but he missed a much easier win earlier! As it turned out, the White Queen could have legally moved to block the check by the Rook, in which case White would lose a queen for nothing. However, Black did not notice this and point it out. Moral of the Story: Never forget any aspects of the 'touch-move' rule! |

I once saw a scene where this dude complains that his opponent, a hot girl, won because he spent more time looking at her breasts than the game. It really gave him the tits although he lost his appeal (don't ask me how he still got the tits - too much KFC?)
